In this episode of Titans of Food Service, host Nick Portillo interviews Michael DiBeneditto, CEO of Golden Waffles. DiBeneditto shares his unexpected entry into the food industry, beginning with a chance meeting that led him to pursue a food marketing degree at St. Joseph’s University. His career path took him through major food distributors like U.S. Foods and Performance Food Group, where he gained extensive experience in operations, sales, and leadership. His well-rounded background prepared him to lead Golden Waffles with a focus on efficiency, service, and innovation.
Golden Waffles, formerly known as Golden Malted, has been a leader in the food industry since 1937, pioneering premium waffle mix and equipment. The company operates on an all-inclusive service model, providing businesses with waffle irons, batter dispensers, mix, and maintenance at no extra cost. Following COVID-19, the company streamlined operations to centralize service and expand its reach, ensuring consistent quality across the U.S. and internationally. The model emphasizes customer convenience, allowing businesses to serve high-quality waffles with minimal effort.
Looking ahead, DiBeneditto aims to expand into the quick-service restaurant (QSR) segment through new product innovations, such as quick-bake mixes and dual waffle bakers. Strategic partnerships, including a recent collaboration with Hilton on the Paris Hilton-themed waffle maker, are key to brand growth. With a focus on innovation, marketing, and operational excellence, Golden Waffles continues to evolve, bringing premium waffle experiences to more businesses and consumers.
